The Best Miele Vacuum Will Have Quality and a High Performance Level

By Haoting Chow

My roommate loves to clean, which means he keeps up on new products or likes to compare things like the best Miele vacuum. Sometimes I join him in the excitement, but usually I let him have the fun. However when he purchased the Miela S5 Series, we both decided it was one of the best Miele vacuums, because of its quality and high performance level.

All of the Miele vacuums are known for quality, but the Miele S5 Series seemed to stand out above the rest. It's partly because each vacuum and part goes through a rigid production process. The Miele's Bielefeld factory in Germany wants each vacuum made to embrace the company's 107-year motto - "Forever Better." This means the best Miele vacuum is created after it goes through endurance testing and rigorous tests. The tests put stress on each vacuum and parts that exceeds a normal residential use. Only once everything passes does the brand get placed on the vacuum.

When deciding which is the best Miele vacuum you have to look at how it performs its cleaning duties. The Miele S5 appears to be up to the task, as its quiet performance allows you to clean rugs, carpets, hardwood floors, or drapes. The six different levels, combined with a parquet floor brush and three attachments, allow maximum cleanliness in a room. The floor attachment will gently clean wood and tile floors, while the crevice tool takes care of hard-to-reach areas.

Some people may complain about the price, but sometimes you'd rather spend money on quality - unless you'd rather buy several low-range vacuums in a short time. If you want the best Miele vacuum, then the Miele S5 Series is right for you. At least it was for our family, where quality is a necessity.

Haoting Chow is a writer and researcher on products for households such as the Miele S5 Vacuum. You can save time and learn more about the product plus get a free in depth review of this vacuum cleaner including discounts and best prices at Haoting's blog: http://www.housewarereport.com

Why Are Miele Vacuum Cleaners So Good?

By M James

Modern day domestic appliances such as vacuum cleaners can be thought of as almost disposable. Once they stop working, we tend to throw them out and replace them, rather than repairing them. Some brands, such as Miele, believe that products should last and that they should perform well, every time.

Here's why Miele vacuum cleaners are so good.

1. Miele was founded in 1899, and so has over a hundred years of innovation and research and development. Miele produced the first automatic washing machine, as well as the first electric dishwasher, and were also the first company to produce washing machines, tumble driers and dishwashers that were controlled by microprocessors.

2. Germany is synonymous with quality and reliability and domestic appliances made by Miele are no different.

3. The motto for Mile is "Immer Besser", meaning "forever better". This helps to explain why their products are always improving, and ehy research and development into making products more effective and easier to use, is so important.

4. Each and every Miele product is designed for at least 20 years use. This means that is made from good quality materials and contains components that are designed to last, and perform effectively for a long time.

5. Every product, such as a Miele vacuum, undergoes a rigorous endurance testing procedure to ensure that it is suitable for using in the modern home environment.

6. Once it has been made, each and every product is checked to ensure that it works properly and will last.

7. The strict quality control procedure makes sure that products that don't meet the high standards are not shipped, which helps to maintain a low failure rate.

8. The durability and reliability would mean nothing without excellent cleaning performance. Fortunately Miele vacuum cleaners have a fantastic reputation for cleaning. Buying a Miele cleaner will guarantee you cleaning performance as well as a product that will last.

9. Miele products often come out top in group tests, and with the features, attention to detail, performance and durability, it's not hard to see why their vacuum cleaners are so highly rated.

10. Because these vacuum cleaners don't need replacing as often, they are much better for the environment. You don't have to send a vacuum to landfill every couple of years, and so you save money as well as the plant by buying a Miele Vacuum Cleaner.

Now you know more about them, it's really not hard to see why Miele Vacuum Cleaners are so popular.

Miele Vacuum Cleaners Review

By Bobby Grecu

Miele vacuum cleaners are the most preformat vacuums on the market due to a sophisticated German technology and a "quality without compromise" mentality.

Miele vacuum cleaners are manufactured by a family owned business in Germany, whose main goal is to produce the best products available today. This is achieved by combining high quality materials with an ultra-modern manufacturing technology.
Common Miele Vacum Cleaners Features:

* Every vacuum is tested for a period of 1,000 working hours and it's guaranteed to work for 20 years
* The system is design to absorb 99.99% of particles that are as small as 0.3 microns
* The impurities are trapped and have no way of getting out due to its electrostatic charged filter bags and HEPA filter. No other brand can compare to Miele's ability to remove and keep the dust inside.
* The Miele S500 and S600 were the world's first to be certified in DMT Air Hygiene Test
* Adjustable suction depending on the surface allows you to clean various surfaces
* Easy to maneuver: all models weight less than 14 pounds; 360 swivel; bags are easy to replace
* Incredible suction power with 1200 Watt Vortex Motor System. Although other brands have slightly more watts, it's the harmony of all the components working together that matters. This is what makes Miele a champion when it comes to suction.
* One of the most quiet vacuum cleaners on the market

3 Types of Miele Vacuums:

1. Canister Vacuums - come with a heavy duty dust bag and have the following characteristics: high power (minimum 1200 watt), good filtration (HEPA filtration), easy to use (360 rotation, light compact design, quiet, friendly way of removing the bag), large variety of brushes
2. Upright Vacuums - the feature that makes the Miele upright vacuums different from the other models are the ability to perfectly align the cleaning brush with the floor, which allows the vacuum to clean even the most difficult areas. The suction power for the upright models is supposed to be two times higher than that of a bagless vacuum.
3. Stick Vacuums are a real space saver, but don't be fooled by their small size: big power and high quality in a small package is what makes stick vacuum cleaners stand out.

What's the best Miele Vacuum Cleaner?

Although there are many popular Miele vacuum cleaners with a vast array of features, there are a few models that are the best in specific situations.

Miele Capricorn vacuums are the perfect choice if you have a lot of carpets. These type of system come equipped with the BEST HEPA canister and does an excellent job in removing the dust (and keeping it inside!).

Miele Callisto vacuum are suitable for bare floors and carpets. It has a sleek new design and superior HEPA filtration. One of the specific features is the luxury parquet bare floor brush, which will prevent scratching,

Miele Pisces vacuums are perfect for those that have allergies. This system differentiates itself by its ability to effectively clean any surface using a turbo brush that moves smoothly from carpets to bare floors and vice versa.

When it comes to the Upright types, there's 2 things you need to keep in mind. Universal Uprights are used for cleaning apartments and small houses and Power House Uprights (best selling) are best used to clean larger surfaces.

Miele Vacuum Cleaners Equal Quality

By Barb S

Meile vacuum cleaners are an example of high quality German engineering. The Miele Company has been around for over a hundred years and this family owned business is known for producing some of the highest quality products on the market. Today Miele has put its focus on manufacturing vacuums that produce less dust and pollutants, so that when vacuuming you are not being exposed to these unhealthy elements.

If someone in your home has allergies, the Miele vacuum cleaners are one of the best on the market. These vacuums are known for being some of the best HEPA machines that you can get; the engineers for Miele have created a vacuum that will capture 99.99% of the particles that would normally be released into the air when you clean your carpet. The Miele vacuums are made to be sealed systems; this way it is trapping the dirt instead of spreading it through the air, which goes a long ways in helping allergy suffers.

The Miele vacuum cleaners are known for being high quality and easy to use; if you take care of your vacuum correctly you can expect that it will last over 20 years. Using this lightweight vacuum is very easy because it is simple to maneuver and get to those places that are difficult to reach. Due to the high quality you get with these vacuums you can expect that when you go to purchase a Miele, it will probably cost you more than the average vacuum cleaner. Although you will spend more money on this brand, you can expect to get a lot more for your money too.

Some of the standard features that come with Miele vacuum cleaners include a sealed system and HEPA filtration. You will also find that these vacuums are very quiet and simple to use because of the self-winding cords, plus they are lightweight and easy to handle. The bags for these vacuums are sealed so that dirt doesn't escape once vacuumed up; additionally, it is very easy to replace the bags. For power, most all of the Miele vacuums come with a 1200-Watt Vortex Motor. All of the features that are included with these vacuums are meant to provide quality products that are easy to use. Once you have used a Miele vacuum you might now want to go back to one of the standard brands.

You can find Miele vacuum cleaners in both the canister and upright style, though the canister type is far more common. Some of the most popular models by this manufacturer include the Miele S4210 Antares Galaxy. This is one of the less expensive models, but it still offers reliability and high quality performance. With the Miele S5280 Callisto Galaxy you get a more expensive vacuum, but you'll get what you pay for in performance, plus the motor comes with a 7-year warranty. Getting your money's worth out of a vacuum isn't easy these days, but research what you want before you buy and you will get a quality product that is exactly what you need.

Miele Vacuums

By Christopher M. Hall

Cleaning your home and keeping it clean is not a haphazard, hit or miss affair, especially if you or any member of your family has an allergic reaction to allergens like dust, pollen and pet hair. Sometimes allergies may be related to seasonal changes and may cause unnecessary medical expenses when it could actually be prevented simply by keeping the home environment clean and dust-free.

You can actually do away with recurring medical expenses not to mention discomfort due to seasonal allergens simply by buying a Miele vacuum for your home.

Take the Miele Polaris S4212 Canister Vacuum Cleaner for example. The Polaris weighs a mere 14 pounds, and is powered by 1200 watt high-output Miele Vortex Motor System. It is equipped with a rotary dial suction control selector and the Silence-Noise insulation feature ensures extremely quiet operation. It uses a 3.7-quart capacity Intensive Clean dust bag for improved filtration and comes standard with a Super Air Clean Filter but you can also use Active Air Clean filter to remove odors and HEPA exhaust filter.

What Makes Miele Vacuums Stand Out Above the Rest?
From the company's beginnings almost 100 years ago, Miele vacuums are still manufactured with the same attention to detail and craftsmanship Germans are known for. Miele vacuums are noted for their unmatched suctioning force and powerful motors.

One of the most compelling reasons people go for Miele vacuums is because of their proprietary technology that provides owners with an effective cleaning and suctioning capability from its very powerful but light motor.

If you are an avid pet lover and pet owner, then the S516 Cat & Dog Canister Vacuum Cleaner is a perfectly designed vacuum that will make your life and your pets more comfortable. One of the drawbacks of having pets at home is the accompanying pet odors and loose hairs that find their way everywhere! To solve this problem, Miele developed the S516 Cat & Dog, a machine with a powerful but ultra quiet motor and power brush to remove pet hairs. It uses the Miele Active Air Clean filter to remove microscopic airborne particles and all types of odor using Generally Activated Carbon technology.

Another reason people swear by their Miele Vacuums is the volume of airflow in the Miele Vacuum system, which they say is several times better compared to other brands. Besides, present Miele users also say that simply by changing attachments and making manual adjustments they use their vacuum to clean not only floors and furniture, they can also use it to vacuum blinds, curtains, drapes, and upholstery.

Miele vacuums are the first vacuum cleaners to be High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter certified machines. The filtration system of Miele vacuums are designed to remove 99.97% of airborne allergens even if they are as small as.3 micrometers in diameter! This is the case with the S5281 Calisto, a Miele vacuum so light you can easily carry it with you to the attic. It operates very silently because of its noise-optimized fan and integrated silence technology. The Calisto comes standard with a HEPA filter that can trap 99.99% of all particles including dust mite feces and pollen.

It comes standard with a crevice and upholstery tool including a dusting brush attachment. The Calisto's Electronic Suction Control Dial provides you with 6 Suction Settings for different vacuuming chores - drapes, furniture, throw rugs, large area rugs, wall-to-wall carpets, bare floors and a quiet setting to keep your baby asleep while you vacuum the house. It also comes with 5-position telescoping stainless steel wands that you can automatically adjust with the touch of a button.

Aside from a highly efficient filtration system, Miele vacuums use double-layer dust bags while high-end models feature a special exhaust system composed of a motor and air cleaner filter to ensure that dirt and grime stay trapped inside the bags together with other allergens.

Miele vacuums look great and at the same time immune to bumps because they are made of lightweight polymers. They also boast of a compact design because of their onboard storage for tools. Lastly, Miele vacuums would not have been the top choice for vacuum cleaners if they are not effective, reliable and durable - a reputation they hold for almost 100 years now.

Time Saving Methods For Cleaning Mini Blinds

by Gene B. Pineda

About the only disadvantage to horizontal mini blinds is the cleaning process. But cleaning mini blinds doesn't have to be such a huge pain, if you take advantage of a few helpful tips. Nowadays, there are some helpful appliances you can get that aren't terribly expensive, and they can take a lot of the frustration out of cleaning mini blinds. The occasional cleaning will keep your mini blinds looking great and operating efficiently for years of stylish and energy-saving enjoyment.

Handy Tools for Cleaning Mini Blinds

First of all, for the occasional wipe-down, you can buy a mini blind cleaner or duster at most discount retailers or other gadget shops (Ace Hardware carries these, too). It's a plastic hand-held appliance with five or six "fingers," which are covered with a soft, fleece-like, dust-absorbent material. You just run this along your mini blind slats, and you can dust five or six of them at once.

It can be a little time consuming, since you must extract the appliance when you reach the center strings. You can also purchase an attachment for your vacuum cleaner (see amerimark.com, for example) that operates on the same basic principle: the slat go between the "fingers," and you clean by moving the appliance along the slats.

In fact, an occasional quick cleaning with the vacuum cleaner will keep excess dust buildup to a minimum, and should make your periodic, more thorough cleanings easier. As an alternative technique, you can simply wind the mini blinds to the closed position and wipe them down with a dust cloth, using your favorite dusting spray.

Deep Cleaning Mini Blinds There are also several techniques you can use for an even more thorough cleaning of your mini blinds. One of these is to remove the blinds from the mounting brackets and soak them in a tub (some people use a section of rain gutter) of warm water, dish detergent, and ammonia (although, if your mini blinds are colored, you might want to skip the ammonia).

Allow the blinds to soak for an hour or two, then remove from the tub and allow them to drain for about an hour (you may want to turn them vertically and spread apart slightly to allow better drainage). This should get rid of even greasy grime that can build up in kitchen mini blinds.

Some people have even reported success at cleaning mini blinds with the hand held sprayer at a car wash. However, care should be exercised when using this technique, since the high pressure spray could dent or otherwise damage aluminum blinds and older, brittle vinyl blinds.

Domestic appliance repair or replace?

by Phil Wright

We live in a throwaway culture where bargains, offers, deals and cheap products entice us into buying new rather than making do, repairing or reusing our things. Being in a recession has made one or two people sit up and think that this is not the most economical way to live - may they light the way for the rest of us.

Let's concentrate on the home appliance market - it is after all, something that's relevant to most of us. Buying a washing machine, vacuum cleaner, tumble dryer, dishwasher or fridge freezer can be a big financial commitment and one which you want to get right first time and not have to do again anytime soon. If we're spending hundreds of pounds on a single item, we expect it to be our faithful live-in lodger for a good few years.

And while it's true that buying the bigger brands often equals increased reliability (they are bigger for a reason), the cost of appliance repair will undoubtedly be something we all have to deal with at some point. So what does appliance repair cost and should we be buying into it or just buying new?

Research shows that every year around 3 million consumers throw away electrical appliances that still work or could easily be fixed and an independent survey by Which? found that more often than not it's cheaper to repair than to replace.

How is the cost of appliance repair broken down?

Call out charge - this comes as standard with most appliance repair companies and is something that can only really be avoided if your Dad's mate is doing you a favour. They vary enormously depending on whether you go direct to the brand appliance repair team, a large company or an independent engineer. There are services online that give you a range of options and the best ones tend to be those that act as a directory for local, independent appliance repair engineers.

Call out charges vary enormously, from £40 to £100 plus and this depends largely on your location and an engineer's reputation.

Labour rate - some companies or engineers don't charge this, their call out charge is their fixed labour rate but it's worth asking the question, as the engineer might be there for 20 minutes or two days. Find out what you're paying for and whether, if they have to come back with other parts, you'll have to pay a second call out charge.

Parts - Most appliances that can be repaired can be done so at a relatively low cost because the parts that are usually the first to break aren't normally the major components. As with any repairs, you can ask how much the parts will cost before they are ordered / fitted / repaired / replaced and opt out of this if you don't think it's a cost effective option. Be aware though that the call-out charge will still stand.

So when deciding whether to repair or replace a home appliance, take into account how old the appliance is, whether it is a well-known and reliable brand, whether your machine (or parts of it) are under guarantee and whether you'd have been looking to replace it for a more energy efficient model soon anyway.

For washing machine repair or any other household appliance repair jobs you may have, get in touch with reliable engineers who can fix your appliance quickly.

Remove Smells From Your Home

by Nancy Davies

A house can smell nasty for various reasons. It doesn't necessarily mean that it's unclean. It might mean that the trash needs to be taken out, that the pets need to be washed and scrubbed, that the floor needs extra attention. There can be many reasons why a home has random bad smells that might just hit when a guest is around, making everyone feel very uncomfortable.

One of the first things you could look at is your flooring. As the floors are porous in nature, they can absorb many odors from various sources, just like your carpets. What you could do is to use a mix of vinegar and water and mop the floor to scrub away any dirt. Also the vinegar will leave a fresh smell lingering behind. If you can stand the smell, you can also use bleach or chlorine instead of vinegar.

Next you need to vacuum well all your carpets. Go through every inch of each carpet slowly with the vacuum cleaner. Once it is done, put an odor absorbing powder on the carpet and leave it overnight. The next day do another vacuuming spree. When the vacuuming is fully done, you should use a steam cleaner to clean your carpet. The hot steam cleans dirt and also removes any odors from the carpet.

Once the flooring is in order, work your steam cleaner over the upholstery. Then go on with the curtains and draperies. They can all be cleaned easily with a good steamer. Next you should go through the kitchen and bathroom. Once they are clean, particularly in the bathroom you can use one of the many air fresheners that pump the fresh smelling air every few minutes. You can regulate it to pump it up to every half an hour.

The main idea here is to go through every inch of your home and clean everything and the lingering odor should leave. Many times it is quite difficult to pinpoint where the smell is actually coming from, so by doing a whole house cleaning, we eliminate as many possibilities as we can.

Bagless Vacuum Cleaner Ratings

by Robin OBrient

Bagless vacuum cleaner ratings can be brutal on some brands and models. Consumers are serious when it comes to picking out the perfect vacuum because this small appliance is so central to a clean home that operates smoothly. When you own a really great vacuum you will hardly recognize it is there and will not think about it much. But, if you get a bad one you will think of nothing but the mess it leaves behind and the hassle it brings into your life.

The newer bagless models are fast becoming preferable to most homeowners who no longer want to deal with changing messy bags. Most bagless vacuum ratings praise the ease with which most models can be changed, though there is some commentary from time to time about models which release a little dust back into the air because they operate with cups that must be pulled out and emptied after sweeping. This is common with all bagless models and is still preferable to changing a dusty bag for most people.

When a vacuum does something wrong the ratings will alert you for sure, but there are also some really great models that are highlighted and widely recommended by bagless upright vacuum cleaner ratings.

The Hoover WindTunnel Cyclonic vacuum is notable for it's tightly sealed system that uses great power to separate the dirt out of your air and run it through a HEPA filter before releasing it back out for you to breathe. Cyclonic technology is what makes this system so powerful and allergy friendly.

The WindTunnel vacuum cleaner is a very recognizable name on the market with many dedicated customers. They eliminate the mess on all surfaces in your home without kicking up the dust in your air while it works.

Another model that gets high ratings is the Eureka Sanitaire SC5845 HEPA upright bagless vacuum cleaner. It has a very powerful commercial grade motor that is reliable for continuous use. The HEPA filter can be easily removed and washed to ensure it remains functional. The vacuum brush will adjust to six different carpeting heights to ensure that your floor is cleaned efficiently from one room to another.

If you want to bring the best vacuum into your home and ensure that it will meet all the needs of your home without giving out or losing power, then check out bagless vacuum cleaner ratings to get recommendations from other consumers who have already tried various models firsthand.

What is a Robot Vacuum?

By Mariette Mifflin

Question: What is a Robot Vacuum?

What is a robot vacuum and can it replace a canister or upright vacuum cleaner?

Answer: No, although robot vacuums are very convenient rug and floor cleaners, they do not have the suction and performance power of an upright or canister model, and cannot perform a regular deep cleaning of your carpet.

These tiny little robots are powerful hands-free, battery charged, rug and floor sweepers, that have been engineered to seek out and pick up the dirt, lint, sand and dust that lies on your floor and carpet surface. A 'glorified' carpet sweeper that works independently, while you do more important things.

With remote capabilities, these vacs are a real benefit for people who have mobility problems. For the person who has a very hectic daily schedule, you could take comfort from knowing your home is being 'swept' while you're out driving the children to their sporting events. They even work to eliminate low-lying floor dust and allergens to help allergy sufferers.

Care and maintenance of these little robots is quite simple. Filter and brush replacements when required; emptying the dust bin after each use, and checking your unit for trapped debris which can hinder performance.

You can't beat the convenience features that come with some models, or are available for purchase separately. Things like a scheduler - so it can clean while you're out; remote - so no bending required; a hanger or wall-mount for storage convenience; a self-charging base - to look after the power factor; and virtual walls - to confine it to one area.

The price range of robotic vacuums is quite wide and is influenced by special features, technology and accessories. If you're shopping for one, take time to ensure that it has all the options you really want. A packaged deal may be more economical, than a lower priced unit plus several must-have accessories.

Sending the robot out to do the sweeping once a day, can really cut down on your housework. You'll still need to do a good vacuuming regularly, so don't retire your canister or upright, but these little robotic gems can sure keep those dust bunnies in check.

Save Money on a Vacuum Cleaner

By Sarah Aguirre

Pick Your Options:

A lot of the bells and whistles of the expensive vacuum cleaners, aren't really necessary. Self-propelled motors may sound nice until you realize that that feature adds a lot of weight to what you have to lug around. Do you really need dirt detectors, headlamps, and to different attachments? Pare down your ideal vacuum to what you really need, and you can save a lot of money.

Buy Refurbished or Used:

If you want to purchase a vacuum cleaner on a budget, one way to do it is by considering a refurbished or a used model.

Refurbished vacuum cleaners are often available through retailers with the same warranty that a new vacuum cleaner would provide. Used vacuum cleaners may be available at reputable vacuum shops at a reduced price and with at least a small warranty. This is a great option for those willing to take a small risk on a reputable brand.

Buy A Model Down:

Vacuum manufacturers are always coming out with new models with extra features. You may be able to find a new vacuum cleaner that is last year's model. Retailers will clear out older models at a discount to make room for the newest vacuum cleaners available. Many of these models have the great cleaning power of the newer models minus a few bells and whistles.

Choose Bagged Budget :

If you need to choose a budget brand or model and air quality is an issue, try choosing bagged over bagless vacuums. Bagless budget vacuum cleaners are, in general, better for air quality than bagless budget vacuums. If you need to worry about allergies or breathing problems then considering a bagged model will be your best bet. Even though the bags may have some cost, the air quality of your home will be better.

Before You Buy an Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Buying the right upright vacuum cleaner for your individual needs is an important and expensive decision. Vacuums come with many different options and advantages, and it can become confusing finding just the right vacuum for your needs. Here are some of the more common options to consider before purchasing a vacuum cleaner.

Amps

Amps refers to the power of the motor, and range from 3.6 to 12. In general, the higher the amp rating, the more suction the vacuum cleaner will have and the more it will cost.

Bag or Bagless

Traditionally, most vacuum cleaners come with cardboard bags to collect the dust and dirt. Today, more and more vacuums are bagless, containing a cylinder that collects the dust and is emptied after vacuuming. The advantages are that you don't have to purchase bags and the ease of emptying.

Filters

Many vacuum cleaners have some form of filtration that helps capture fine particles. Filtration ranges from micron filters to true-HEPA filters, which are said to offer the best filtration. In general, a true-HEPA filter will increase the cost of the cleaner.

Attachments

Most upright vacuum cleaners come with some onboard cleaning attachments. Although an upright's attachments will generally not clean as well as a canister type vacuum, you will want to compare the attachments available and flexible hose length if applicable.

Edge Cleaning

This is another factor to consider before purchasing your vacuum cleaner. Vacuums that can pick up dirt under the entire area of the cleaning head are more useful for cleaning wall-to-wall carpeting.

The Latest Vacuum Cleaner Technology

by Allen Roberts

Vacuum cleaners may be seen as a stodgy old appliance that does not change much, but there have been advancements in the last several years that make vacuuming easier and more enjoyable as well as more effective. The most innovative changes have come from Dyson. Today's vacuums run cleaner than those in the past (less dust in the air), and are more powerful to grab pet hair and dirt that older vacuums could not pull out of a carpet.

Bagless Upright Vacuums - Many of the newest vacuums are bagless. This means that you do not have to buy bags. With a bagless vacuum, you empty the dirt and dust directly into into your trash can and you are ready to go. This innovation has been available for quite a while. The latest bagless vacuums allow you to empty your dirt container with the press of a button (so you don't have to handle the dirt). Dyson Bagless Vacuums empty at the bottom of the dirt container for easy disposal.

Sealed Canister Vacuums - Miele bagged canister vacuums are sealed to prevent dust from escaping, and have self sealing bags that close up when removed from the vacuum, eliminating your having to be exposed to the dust and dirt in those bags.

Ball Upright Vacuums - This is the latest type of vacuum which was introduced by Dyson. Instead of wheels, the Dyson uses a ball in the front of the vacuum making it much more maneuverable than traditional vacuums. To our knowledge, only Dyson has this type of vacuum.

Quiet Vacuums - Most vacuums are pretty loud and can scare pets. Electrolux makes an ultra quiet canister model, the EL6985a. Miele's entire line of canister models are sealed and made for quiet performance.

Cyclonic Vacuums - This technology (available on all Dyson uprights) separates the dirt and debris from the air before it meets the filter. This keeps the filter from clogging. Clogged filters are a big problem, especially when dealing with pet hair. Cyclonic vacuums can be more powerful since an unclogged filter allows for more suction.

Direct Drive Motors - Most upright vacuums have one motor that drives the compressor for suction, and with a belt drives the beater bar. Using a separate motor for the brush makes the vacuum beltless, so you don't need to replace belts. Many Dyson vacuums are beltless.

Hepa Filtration - Many vacuums have Hepa filters which get rid of dirt and dust out of the exhaust air. Many older vacs spew out dirt and dust in the air when vacuuming. This feature is important for allergy sufferers and those that don't want to inhale what was in the rug.

Dirt Sensor - Some vacuums have a dirt sensor that detects when the vacuum is no longer picking up dirt, so you know when to move on to another area of the carpet.

As you can see there are many new features of vacuums to consider. You need to determine which technologies are important to you before choosing the best vacuum for your needs. Reading reviews of these vacuums can give you an idea of how others have used them in real world situations. Low end vacuums usually do not have many of these advanced features.

Tips to Choose Right Vacuum Cleaner Bags

by Ken M

Vacuum cleaners have simplified lives to a great extent. You need not worry about extensive and tiring cleaning process, when you have a vacuum cleaner. Basically, there are two different categories in which vacuum cleaners can be defined: one with bags or the bag less. A bagged vacuum cleaner comes with a bag in which all the dirt gets accumulated when you clean. This bag needs to be replaced periodically. You may be confused as to how you can choose the best vacuum cleaner bags. No matter which brand you are using like Electrolux, Sanyo or Miele, you can shop for vacuum accessories on the Internet. Here are a few tips to the right vacuum cleaner bags:

Some vacuum cleaners have indicators to suggest that the dirt bag has become full. The ones that do not have indicators need to be checked for the bag status. Vacuum cleaner bags are inexpensive and are easily available. When you purchase a vacuum cleaner, it is best to ask the merchant about the availability of the vacuum accessories. You are recommended to use the same brand of vacuum cleaner accessories as that of your cleaner.

The size of the vacuum cleaner bags must be compatible with your cleaner. Check on the model number and size of the disposable bags prior to making a purchase. Wrong size purchase will be a misfit for your machine. Buying from the company store helps you to get the perfect spares for your cleaner and that too at a genuine price. Contact the local supplier through their hotline numbers and you can have your purchase delivered at your doorstep. Most electronic gadgets come with their service center numbers on their guarantee cards.

You can choose to buy vacuum cleaner bags in quantity. The cleaners are used on a regular basis. When you buy in bulk, you can avail discount from the merchant on the purchase of bags as well as accessories. Keep a tab on the offers floated by the product company from time to time. You can buy spares as well as vacuum belts during the offer period to make some great savings. Compare the prices online to see which merchant offers you the best deal. A little research helps in buying the same product at a reasonable price.

Vacuum cleaner bags are generally denoted with the letters "A" or "E". Once you know which letter denoted the type of bag compatible to your cleaner, shopping for it becomes easier. You can even shop for specially designed bags which traps allergens. These accessories are however a little expensive. It is advised that you select a product with hepa vacuum filters in case you have any asthmatic person at home. These filters help in removing soot, pollen from air.

Apart from the vacuum cleaner bags, you must even check the vacuum belts periodically. Little maintenance adds to the life of the cleaning machine.

Now you know that buying disposable bags for your vacuum cleaner is not a Herculean task. You can put a scented sachet in the vacuum cleaner bag, and it will work like a room freshener!

The truth about vacuum cleaners

by Mary Thompson

The major criteria involved with choosing a canister vacuum cleaner is what floor surfaces you plan to clean versus the power of the vacuum. Almost all canister vacuum cleaners offer 3 choices of tools for the surfaces of floors: 1. A bare floor hard plastic brush that's about 10" - 12" wide with soft bristles. 2. Turbo brush that features a spinning drum roller with harder bristles. 3. A power head brush that is similar to the turbo brush although it is powered by a seperate motor.

Both the turbo brush and power head brush vacuums have a spinning drum roller with bristles that resemble that of an upright vacuum cleaner. While the brushes look and perform pretty much the same, the power head brush vacuum has a smaller seperate motor that turns the brush on the bottom of it, therefore making it more powerful and much more aggressive than the turbo type brush that is turned by the flow of air being pulled past it.

These types of brushes will snap the fibers of the carpet and allow the air to get beneath the dirt particles. If you can't get air to go under these particles, then you won't be able to suck them out, regardless of how much suction power you are able to apply with a vacuum cleaner.

When you purchase a turbo or power head vacuum cleaner to be used primarily on carpet surfaces, you'll also receive a brush for bare floors as well that is perfect for areas without carpet.

The rule of thumb as to which model of vacuum cleaner you should choose is: 1. The bare floor model of canister vacuum cleaners are perfect for smooth surfaces with no expectation of having rugs or carpeting. The best choices for bare floor vacuum cleaners include Eureka Oxygen 6992 and the Miele Solaris Canister. 2. Turbo types of canister vacuum cleaners are best for scatter rugs and low pile wall to wall type carpeting. The best picks here are the EIO family vacuum cleaner, the Miele Solaris, and the Sebo Turbo canister vacuum cleaner. 3. The power head brush types of vacuum cleaners are great for wall to wall carpeting and very important if you deal with pet hair. The best picks here include the Sebo Canister 3.1, the Miele Silver Moon, and the Eureka Oxygen 6996.

Some of the other important features for canister vacuum cleaners include reliability, purchase price, HEPA filter and sealed unit, the cost of replacement filters and bags, weight, storage and quality of tools, control locations, noise, adjustable wand, retractable cord, ease of changing attachments, bag change indicator, filter change indicator, swivel hose, and other extra features such as dirt alerts.

Almost all canister vacuums are similar in size, offer similar radiuses of cleaning, and come with the same tool attachments.

Make an Informed Decision - 4 Things to Look For When Shopping For a New Vacuum

By Lillian James

Wondering How To Choose a Vacuum?
Hopefully these tips will make your vacuum purchase smoother. Let's begin...

1. Suction Power and Airflow. Suction power is important when picking out the best vacuum since suction helps determine how much dirt is likely to be picked up when cleaning. Picture this, you buy a new vacuum cleaner that looks nice and is a reasonable price. However, when you go to operate it you notice that you are constantly running the vacuum over the same spot but those little dust balls aren't going anywhere. Well now you're stuck with a new vacuum cleaner with no vacuum suction power. Money wasted.

However, suction is not the only factor that's important. Airflow is just as important to actually carry the dirt away. If the vacuum is great at sucking up dirt, but has poor airflow then the dirt still isn't going to budge because there is no power to move it. You need a good balance of both to have an effective vacuum cleaner.

How do you determine suction strength and airflow? Consumer reviews are always helpful and are your best bet in getting first hand user opinions to find out if a vacuum has good suction power. We've found that some of the best vacuums with great suction power include the Miele S2412 Polaris canister vacuum and the Bissell Cleanview Helix upright vacuum.

2. Size. Big and bulky or small and compact. Which do you prefer? Some consumers may mistake the size of the vacuum with how effective the vacuum cleans. Good thing is this is far from true. Manufacturers have been consistently reducing the size of vacuums in recent years, opting for more lightweight and easy to maneuver vacs. Size is also important when you're dealing with smaller spaces, making a lightweight vacuum ideal. New design and technology has made these smaller vacuums just as effective, and sometimes more effective, than larger vacuums.

3. Bag or Bag less. If you think back a few years, vacuums with bags was the standard but bagless vacuums have become very popular in recent years. Vacuums without bags work by sucking up dirt and debris then depositing that debris into a cup. The cup or dirt bin is then removed and emptied in the garbage for disposal.

This brings concern to some consumers who worry about dust being released back into the air when emptying the dirt bin versus a bag that collects the dirt and is disposed of without exposing the debris to air. Bagless vacuums have also been marketed as money savers since there is no need to purchase new bags over time however, you still have to purchase effective filters that will catch small particles which brings us to tip number 4.

4. Filters. Filters are extremely important to keep in mind because they help determine how much debris is actually being put back into the air while vacuuming. There are a few different technologies being used and HEPA is one of the best. True HEPA technology ensures top of the line filtration and is used in hospital settings. The best HEPA filters catch 99% of particles and are ideal for consumers suffering from allergies or asthma. These filters have become extremely popular and are used in many vacuums today but are not the standard. You will typically find them in higher priced vacuums such as Hoover, Dyson and Miele. The filters also need to be changed at least once a year with some of the more expensive HEPA vacuum filters costing $60 - $100.

These are just a few factors to keep in mind when choosing the best vacuum for your usage. Others factors include noise level, the type of attachments included, and the type of floor the vacuum will be used on. Having this information available before making a purchase will help you make the best informed decision to buy the most effective vacuum for your needs.

Need a Vacuum For Pet Hair? Look No Further

By Hugh G. Wang

There are many pet owners around the world, and for good reason. Pets are lovable animals, that for many, are like their own children. However, like children, pets need to be cleaned up after, and often it is much more burdensome than just picking up toys. Pets leave all kinds of hair and dander all over your carpet and floors, creating potential problems with allergies and asthma. Thus, it is absolutely critical that one cleans up as effectively as possible after their pet. Cleaning up after a pet is easier said than done, as pet hair and dander is not exactly an easy pickup, requiring you to have a vacuum cleaner that is best suited for such a job. Choosing what vacuum cleaner you need to most effectively clean up your pet hair, and make breathing easier again is not an easy task, as there many vacuums on the market.

While some provide attachments dedicated to cleaning pet hair, they may not be as effective as they claim. The first thing that any pet owner should consider when shopping for a vacuum is that in general, upright vacuum cleaners are more effective in getting the job done. Their motorized heads, turbobrushes, or electrobrushes are specifically designed to cater to the clean up of pet dander.

Of all the models on the market, there are a few that you should consider, which are the Dyson DC14 and DC15 Animal, and the Miele TT5000 Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner for Cats and Dogs. While the Miele is a cylinder vacuum, it does have the necessary brushes needed to effectively clean cat and dog dander. The Dyson model has received excellent reviews, particularly from those with pets. These three models have been highly recommended by both experts and consumers alike, making their purchase a no brainer.

One of the great things about the Miele vacuum is that they have two turbo brushes, which is what causes pet hair to be removed without issues. The Miele is moderately expensive, but worth every penny if you have an animal in the house. The Dyson uses a mini turbine head, which makes the clean up of pet hair a very simple task.

With so many vacuum cleaners on the market, it is understandable that most consumers get frustrated, and just pick up whatever is on sale. However, why would anybody spend money on something that doesn't even get the job done. That is why it is important to consider your needs, and if you have pets, you should definitely get either the Dyson or the Miele vacuum.

Hugh G. Wang is a licensed cleaner that has specialized in the art of house and commercial cleaning for 48 years. He highly recommends the use of a Panasonic Vacuum. He also encourages clients to use a HEPA Air Cleaner in their home and business.

Choosing a Carpet Cleaning Machine

By Taf Baig

When I was given this task to write about how you go about choosing the right machine for your operations, I thought to myself "this is going to be boring." As I started thinking about it more and more I thought it should really be told in a story form. It would keep it interesting and more people could relate with it. So, I set out to write a short story about my 19 years and how I went about choosing and at times stumbling into finding machines.

After graduation from college with a Bachelors in Marketing, I was faced with a widespread recession. I managed to get a job and start saving for that business I thought I would run one day. Seven months into the job, living with my wife and a roommate in a one bedroom apartment, I managed to save $5,000.00 to start a business.

Back then, there was no Internet. I practically lived in the library researching what kind of business I could start with the little money that I had saved up. There aren't that many businesses that you can start with the amount of money that I had. Somehow, I narrowed it down to carpet cleaning.

It was really hard back then to get good advice. Today, I would just type in "carpet cleaning supply" on the Internet and 1000's of results would come up. I knew that I couldn't really buy a machine that cost more than I had saved up, so I started looking locally for suggestions.

With a little research and a prod from my wife, "if you're going to do it, then you might as well do it now," I picked a portable machine for around $3,200.00 and was on my way. Luckily, the machine came with supplies and I had some money still left over for marketing.

I want to keep the focus of this article towards carpet cleaning machines, so I won't go into too many tangents that are otherwise important but not the focus of this article. I used the machine for a few years and learned a lot more about machines. I learned why truck mounts were better. Mostly better because of the speed they provided the user.

About two to three years into my cleaning career, I started to do two to three jobs a day. I found I was working twelve hour days very often. One night I was cleaning the carpets of a sugar factory. It wasn't inside the factory, but the adjacent offices where the employees desks and offices were. From the sugar combined with dirt this wasn't a dream job as you can imagine. It took all weekend to clean what should have taken me a few hours. The results were also not to my liking. So the following Monday I called a salesperson from a local carpet cleaning supply store that was trying to sell truck-mounts to me for a while.

I totally trusted the company and their salesperson. That week, the salesperson came out to my house and did a demonstration. I was impressed with the quality and the speed. For some reason, people had "brainwashed" me to believe that truck-mounts that use hot water extraction, or "steam cleaning" in layman's terms, over-wet the carpet and that the carpet could get damaged. None of this was true. I could now see myself working less while making the same amount of money. So, I signed on the dotted line and agreed to lease the machine for 60 months for $370.00 a month.

My sales literally exploded after a few months of ownership. I was doing more jobs, I was able to hire help and pay the help well. Within a few months I agreed to lease another unit and in another few years I had five truck-mounted carpet cleaning machines and fourteen employees.

Besides the machines there were other things going right for me as well. My first child was on the way and this gave me a lot more determination to succeed and my Bachelors in Marketing was also a great asset.

Since I decided to write this article in an unconventional way, by telling a story rather then listing pros and cons, I'll let you draw your own conclusions from my story.

Please feel free to contact me at www.MagicWandCompany.com with any questions you may have.

I started a carpet cleaning business right after graduating from College. Having a Marketing degree was helpful in growing my business and I quickly built it up to a multiple truck operation. In August of 1998 we opened an online store for carpet cleaning chemicals, machines and accessories. It was the first store on the internet that used the now popular shopping cart format. Besides that, I learned about Chemistry and became an IICRC Instructor. One thing led to another and here I am 19 years later. Our carpet cleaning supply website is http://www.MagicWandCompany.com.
